Top 10 of 2008! (2)

AND it continues that we countdown the last few top ranks of 2008. Without much hesitation, this last 4 entries are truly more important to me, and hence, have made its ranks as the top 4! Let us begin with the fourth entry!

4. Coming in 4th is Music, Movies and TV Shows! Well, i have to admit that if my life was void of music or even teevee shows, i would find it really boring. Lets start with the music of 2008. 2008 saw many talented singers like Leona Lewis, who made her debut with Bleeding Love. It was R&B Princess Rihanna dishing out singles that charted at number 1, one after another. Take A Bow, Don't Stop The Music, Disturbia as well as the mega hit, Umbrella. It saw singers come back. Britney Spears releasing her album in December with her smash single, Womanizer and her next single, Circus. It saw Timbaland collaborating with various artistes in his Shock Value album, which leaves us awaiting the second album. Singles such as Give It To Me, Apologize as well as the huge hit, The Way I Are. It saw new singers rising such as Katy Perry and Flo Rida, despite their varied genres and style. 2008 in music was wonderful. :D

As for teevee shows! I have to admit without my weekly dose of Gossip Girl, i would've found the Internet boring as well. Others like the hit reality show, America's Next Top Model also made its highlight in 2008. American Idol saw a winner, yet again. Desperate Housewives ran its 5th season, which continues till next year. Knight Rider made its debut on NBC. Locally, shows such as The Noose was made a hit. Quirky and devilishly clever, it won my heart! :D The Ellen Degeneres show didn't fail. The movies of 2008 mostly sucked. so yeah. not worthy of mention.. :S

3. COMING in at number 3, we have my FRIENDS AND NEW FRIENDS! well, as cliche as this may be, my friends are one of the cornerstones that make me up. Without them, i wouldn't have been able to make it through! Be it ole' friends like Xenia, Kiewu, Rachel or Shu Ya, to online friends such as Johanna; i'm still very thankful to have them as part of my life! Weijin, you too even though 2008 saw you far away from home. And of course to other friends that i've known, such as Delia, Aryani, Kathy. You guys are all included as one of those i may lean on should i need an extra ear!

As for my new friends, being my classmates. Si'en, Baoying, Sebastian, Alwin. This group is my purpose and meaning in school. i'm glad i have friends who do things well together. FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS!!! :D Other new friends in my course like Bertram, (who also happens to be in Ambassadors) i wana thank you for meeting up with me after school and all for a chat. Faith Christine! You're not forgotten. You've been a real help this year over the last few months especially. I'm glad i got to know you! Victor, you've been a slight help too. Even though a dull monotone person you might be, sometimes you say the funniest stuff. Thanks for the laughs! My REDCAMPERS! you guys rock so much! i dont think any of them read, but still. you definitely affected my year! :D

Friends come and go. Much gained, few lost. For those i have inadvertently shut away, don't loathe me or be repulsed indefinitely. Life's purpose may lead back to a functional friendship. Don't hold bitterness, for it will grow sour. wait..... bitter becomes sour. hmmmm

2. Photography comes in at number 2! 2008 saw the purchase of my SLR. It wasn't only this that made the difference. It was the passion for photography. I'm not a creative person, but somehow, a bit of artsy me developed when taking photographs. I'm glad for this hobby, which is cheaper than that of my travelling! I did take many pictures that i love, but wont be posting it here. but do remember to catch all 36 of them i specially chose, on tomorrow's post!

Also tied with photography, is my family. My primary support and brain. I wana thank my parents for being such loving people who sacrificed so much for me. Sweating and slogging everyday just to keep us going, to make sure we have the opportunities that they never did have. Wonderful, amazing people. We don't need superheroes because both of them are my heroes in life. :D As for my sister, i'm glad that i have her to listen should i need to rant. Despite us not being the closest of people, i still love her tonnes. There would be no other girl i'd want as my sister.

1. Expectantly, the number one spot goes to YOU. No, not exactly the readers of my blog. i'm not such a suck-up! Its you, my one and only. 2008 saw me only about spend ALL my time with you. Investing so much from time, to finances, to emotions. i'm very glad to have met you, and grown something so special between us. Fun or Fight, everything good or bad; is still a lesson and a journey i treasure with you. It shouldn't come as a surprise that you are the utmost centre of me. Words alone can't recount the tedious journeys we trotted along this year, or the numerous laughs we had over innate traits we possessed. I saw finally, a more grown up perspective of love. I saw on my own, how love could change a person. In this, i'm more than content that the love is warming and shared so lovingly. It may not be the words, or the actions. But in knowledge do we know the things we know. A lifetime, a journey, a person. Thank you for making my 2008 probably the most peaceful and memorable year i have had. :D xoxo!

i wouldn't lie that i look forward to a better 2009, but i know that its a lie to think that it'll be better. Things would only get worse, so maybe. Let me set a wish for next year. Smooth sailing for me in every aspect of stability in the family, amongst my friends, and others. No drama. Simple.

With that, i conclude this post here! apologies for the length of this post, and the lack of pictures! do check it tomorrow though!

xoxo,
Marcus.

Top 10 of 2008! (1)

IT comes to the point of the year whereby we start thinking back upon the few things we loved and hated about the year. This 2008, i've come up with only ONE! of these lists. The top 10 things that were so wonderful and impacted my 2008 with a BANG! :D so lets countdown over today, and tomorrow! Starting with number 10 to 5 today, here's the tenth entry!

10. At number 10, we have the fake hypes of the year! Hypes ranging from those of Britney Spears, to Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. The crazy DUI arrests, all the spotlight in the entertainment industry pointing at the wrong people and how CRAZY Hollywood is! Without hypes like these, 2008 would've been boring.... really. Without the crazy baby boom, we would've died! From Jessica Alba, to Christina Aguilera to Madonna.....wait, she didn't have a baby, she just looked bad at 50 because she missed a BOTOX session... hmmm. Surely, the media attention created much excitement to 2008!

9. Coming in at number 9, we have the wonderful FRAGRANCES of the year! My personal favourite being Bvlgari's Aqva Marine. Yes, the one that everyone loves. :D Together with this fragrance, i also got Armani Diamonds. I got a new bottle of Boss Bottled. Boss Bottled is a very classic and slightly sweet fragrance. It was my first one, i still remember. and i still love it a lot :D well, that's about the only 3 fragrances i got for myself this year, sadly. Gonna be getting a few more next year! But 2008 was truly wonderful with this classic fragrance, Bvlgari Aqva Marine! Its always important to look good, AND SMELL GOOD! :D

8. Next on the list would be my 2 homely creatures, the pets! Always a pleasure to have them around, most of the time. thats quite contradictory but, I still love them. Belle (my Golden Retriever) turned 3 this year, and would turn 4 next year! While Duchess (my Persian Himalayan cat) is still a newly born cat of 2008! I have to say that i changed my perception of cats when i had Duchess. But still, Belle is not only the most lovable, but also the most understanding dog i have had. And for me to only realise how wonderful she is now is why she comes in at number 8!

7. At number 7, we have the debit cards! I remember i got my debit card this year after i heard about how it was possible to get it at my age. I was obviously psyched, and this has turned into something that has kindaaaaaaa benefited me a lot. Who knows what we would do without online shopping (right Kiewu)? so i gotta say that the debit cards have been a huge part of my 17th life! Be it booking movies online, to checking boring bank balances; the debit card never fails. (yes, the credit card doesn't either, but i'm not eligible. and I'm not Stephanie Wong. ) :D

6. At number 6, we have a very trendy factor. Fashion as well as clothes. 2008 marked the beginning of much. Be it the start of being different with styles, or the explorations of a few colours to the discovery of new favourite colours. Kiewu did a whole post on fashion, but i'll do a short segment. 2008 saw branded stuff flowing in, it saw mixing and matching, and it saw new frontiers. My discovery of red and lime green persists amidst the dull black and white. Accessories being matched with outfits that i wouldn't exactly try out, i'm sure i saw myself break a hole or 2 in my expectations in the "don't do" list! And in lieu of neon colours as the "in-thing" next year, lets start breaking down those boundaries to fashion!

5. At number 5, i need to really mention them. The Ambassadors of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and Ngee Ann Polytechnic itself! The Ambassadors together, are a collective term for just many people who wana have fun, and know how to be serious as well. From the many occasions, i have bonded with fellow friends and grown to become closer to some. I'm really glad to have been a part of this family in 2008. It has brought much insight into my life as a tertiary student. And if i were to not be in it? Surely, i wouldn't be having that much fun in Polytechnic, no WAY!

As for my school, i'm glad i studied hard this year too! With receiving my O Level grades and applying for one of the best courses, Banking and Financial Services; i have to say it broke yet another record in my life. I never wanted to do business, but lookie where we are now!! I'm very happy with my course, and my school. I love them both, and thats why it comes in at number 5!

And so, we have come to the midsection of my countdown. I hope i havent bored you to death! The list continues, and much expected factors to pop out in due time, so do keep it tuned and come check back tomorrow! and for the eve of the new year, i have a collection i will be doing, so do WATCH THIS SPACE!

With Love,
Marcus.

(oh, i didnt take the one above.. yeah)

oh yes. we had a turkey. :D yay! haha. it tasted heavenly! really good! honestly, i haven't had a Christmas dinner that was so scrumptious in a LONG LONG LONG time.. so i'm really glad that this year was different, along with many other stuff that was unorthodox. :S

of course the turkey wasn't the only thing. we had duck, ham and all sorts of weird food. but well. yeah. i didnt edit any of the pictures, so they aren't very clear. lol. anyways. i hope you had a fun Christmas dinner! :)

THIS is the picture of the grandchildren from both sides. the only girl (the one beside my grandma) is my sister. and yeah, you could probably spot me and the 4 guys, who are my cousins. anyways, i thought this picture brought such injustice to my grandma. here's a picture when she was MUCH MUCH MUCH younger! :D

she could easily have been a model. :) i love my grandma. she's so ailing and weak, but still so nice to us all. :) heh. anyways. i'm down with a flu, or rather the initial symptoms of one. this brings me two years back, when i celebrated a Christmas SICK as well. :S oh well. i'm happy though. happy with what has happened this year. thanks for all your well wishes, and those who got me some small present. really thoughtful of you. :)

and for you. yes, you. i wana thank you in every single way i can. because really, no one can replace you, and thats how much i love you. thats really what i love about you. this has been an awesome Christmas. thank you, love. :D

here's an old britney Christmas song! hope you enjoy it! :D
