Actions Speak Louder Than Words

hey people.

i just realised that i forgot to add one really important thing in February, VALENTINE'S DAY! haha. yes. on the 14th i think. wait it is the 14th right? i apologise if i made any mistake and apologise for the great hesitation. you see, i've been available for the past 3 years on V. Day. lols. and hence, i think i tend to forget the importance of that day. the whole concept of "love" by buying flowers, gifts, etc. some gimmick by the florists and gift shop owners. but oh well. Things like this boost the economy doesnt it? haha.

anyhoots. i've been on the ball for new music. And i wana thank Xenia for having the song "Is It You?" by Cassie. we all love cassie dont we? i mean like she's one of the hottest stars at this age! she's only 21 this year. and yeah. i think she's uber talented despite people being SO jealous of her, making up rumours. anyhows, "Is It You?" is at the top of my love list. and then there's "Ordinary Day" by Nick Lachey. this is his latest single. its really good. perhaps not as perfect as "what's left of me" but its still got some substance. did i say? i hate Vanessa Minnillo? i prefer Jessica Simpson. lol.

anyways. there's also "Out From Under" by Joanna Pacitti. Its off the soundtrack of Bratz, and its an awesome song! I just cant wait for the movie, "Jumper" to premiere. Hayden Christansen is acting in it with Samuel L. Jackson right? yes. they're both awesome actors. hah. and i just love the plot's idea. and that girl actress. i forgot who she is? but i know she's gonna be awesome in it too. it opens on 14th of Feb! haha. Oh. and the local movie, "Ah Long Pte Ltd". oh my. i just cant wait. Fann Wong is in it with Mark Lee. haha. right. opening on CNY!

i wana address a common misconception.
the O levels. i read somewhere about someone discussing openly the chances of getting an A1 for ENGLISH LANGUAGE in O levels when the person scored an A1 for their N levels. let's put it this way. Chances are high that you will score an A1. But count yourself the lucky batch as firstly, you're competing only amongst YOURSELVES, Sec5's. There aint much competition. However, do also realise that there are other countries that take the GCE O level examinations. In addition, the N level English is different from the O Level English i'm sure you know. Lets take for example, my school. Queensway Secondary. We are banded. Band 1 being the best, band 7 being the worst. Some band 1's got C6 this year. Some Band 5's got A2. And my friend from Band 7 got an A1. See, these things are very unpredictable. All the marking is subjective. My english is very fluent. i'm a very good speaker, and i've got very good articulation. But sometimes, i might lack writing creativity. We all have flaws, sometimes your flaw is amplified to the marker if you write a weak essay. Choosing the wrong topic for Compo can cause you your distinction, and drop you to a B3. getting 15 instead of 20 for summary might just cause you that distinction too. See, its very dangerous. you cant assume and be arrogant. the teachers know it better. Listen to the people who have gone through it. I've seen her writing. She's good at it. Learn from her, and stop being such a prick. (:

many of us know about the Bell Curve. It is difficult to score, but easy to pass. Why people cant score in E math but can usually pass easily? Thats because of the Bell curve. i don't think i need to elaborate on this. But simply, its difficult to get distinctions unless you're the creme de la creme. But its easy to just pass the subject's exam. We all know to get an A1 in E math, you need to score roughly 83 and above. whereas in the Prelims, 75 and above is still an A1. this is because the curve is shifted. As such, people who got 79 will get an A2 in the O levels because the curve was shifted down. So, doesn't mean that if you get an A1 in prelims means you'll get a B3 in o levels. and doesn't mean that there is a variance of 2! it doesn't work that way. its not measurable. Doesn't mean that if you get a B4 means you'll get a C6. thats complete nonsense.

alrights. i think i shalt end here. i don't think the person will see this. but just to let you know, all ye o level students this year and the next, and the year after that. (:
